Boasting the title of the world’s oldest container-grown pecan nursery, the Williams nursery was actually born out of a need to expand Bob Williams’ own pecan orchard. After years of suffering high mortality rates using bare-root nursery stock, Mr. Williams finally decided he had to come up with a better idea if he was ever to succeed with his orchard-expansion plan. So in 1968 he began experimenting with a nursery concept that no one had ever ventured into.

     For the next twelve years he and son, Paul, struggled against seemingly insurmountable odds before finally developing a method of growing pecan nursery stock in containers. Today the Williams nursery is a shining example of what ingenuity and hard work can accomplish.

     Since the 1970’s orchards from South Carolina to Texas are populated with trees from the Williams Nursery. Likewise, successful container-grown pecan nurseries all over the country got their start after seeking Mr. Williams’ guidance on the method he perfected.
